 My new car
I might get a VW Jetta when I get back from the desert. What you you guys think of it or any suggestions for other cars in the same price range?

I would recommend the the TDi(diesel) For the range and gas mileage. Even with diesel priced higher than gas you still save .10 a mile with the TDi($3.20vs$4.10). Or if you want speed you can get the vr6. Both very good options. If you end up station in Alaska next make sure you get a block heater or you will not be going anywhere when it is -40 outside.

 Re: My new car
Well now that plan may be put on hold as Krystle's dad is going to give us his 2002 Grand am which is still old but in much better condition then my road warrior style P.O.S. Hyundai. I'm thinking I'll just keep that for a while and use mine for training and target practice for the .50 cal. That way I can come back from the deployment and see where I'll be getting stationed after I re-up while I'm over there. Unless I go overseas or to Alaska I'll probably still get the Jetta though.

Now who is going to get the newer car? Is it going to cost you any? I still say go for it because both of your cars are older. She can have her dads old car and you can get the jetta.

No I'm gonna take her dads car instead of buying a jetta that way if we end up someplace weird for my next assignment I won't have wasted money on the jetta if like we can't bring it.

Won't be a waste IMO. But If you get station somewhere weird you can save the money and get a brand new or almost new one when you get back
